How hypnotherapy works........

You are in control of  your own thoughts, feelings, attitudes and actions.

Many of the things you do seem to be based on conscious decisions, but in fact, most are influenced by your subconscious.  Your subconscious in turn has been influenced by your upbringing, experiences earlier in your life and what you've learned as you've grown.  These experiences, even if you don't consciously remember them explain so much of your current behaviour - both behaviour you're happy with, and behaviour you'd prefer to remove, such as smoking, anxiety, phobias, habits etc.

The simplest way to remove any unwanted behaviour is to access the unconscious mind and teach it new things.  This is done by clearing the conscious mind of unneccessary thoughts and suggesting improvements to the unconscious.

Hypnosis is a natural state of relaxation and concentration, sometimes called a 'trance'.  You've probably experienced a similar state when daydreaming, or when enjoying a good movie.

  • Most hypnotherapy sessions require only a light trance state
  • Hypnosis is not sleep.  You'll be completely aware of everything that's happening and everything that's being said.  You're in control
  • Everyone can be hypnotised, though different people go to different depths of trance
  • Hypnotherapy is a pleasant experience
